About WMSO
The personal side of finance deserves a place on campus.
Founded in 2019, WMSO gives UT Austin students practical financial education, professional access, and a community built around learning together.

Established 2019
Financial planning is a people business. WMSO teaches it that way.
WMSO is a student-led organization at The University of Texas at Austin, affiliated with the McCombs School of Business, that builds financial fluency and connects students with the people and firms shaping wealth management.
The organization began in response to a gap in personal-finance education at UT. Today, it brings the curriculum into the room through firm visits, case work, workshops, mentorship, and conversations with professionals.

Open access
McCombs-affiliated. Open to every major.
Students do not need prior finance experience—or a plan to work in wealth management. The subject matters because everyone will make decisions about savings, risk, investing, retirement, and the people they trust for advice.
Careers in wealth management
More paths than one title suggests.
WMSO introduces the services, firms, and roles that sit across private wealth, investment management, and financial planning.
Where our alumni work

WMSO alumni have carried their experience into financial services, professional services, banking, and investment management.
